[527] A phenomenon (dhamma) accompanied by rapture (pīti) is a condition for a phenomenon accompanied by rapture by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: Depending on faith (saddhā) accompanied by rapture, one gives a gift (dāna) with a mind (citta) accompanied by rapture, undertakes virtue (sīla), performs the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), produces jhāna accompanied by rapture, insight (vipassanā) … the path (magga) … produces an attainment (samāpatti); one gives rise to conceit (māna), grasps a view (diṭṭhi).
Depending on virtue accompanied by rapture … learning (suta) … generosity (cāga) … wisdom (paññā), one gives a gift with a mind accompanied by rapture, undertakes virtue, gives rise to conceit, grasps a view.
Depending on lust (rāga) accompanied by rapture … delusion (moha), conceit, view … longing (patthanā), one gives a gift with a mind accompanied by rapture, undertakes virtue, performs the uposatha observance, produces jhāna accompanied by rapture, produces an attainment.
With a mind accompanied by rapture one takes what is not given, speaks falsely, speaks divisively, indulges in idle chatter, breaks into houses, carries off plunder, burgles an isolated house, waylays on the highway, goes to another's wife, slaughters a village, slaughters a market town.
Faith accompanied by rapture … virtue, learning, generosity, wisdom, lust, delusion, conceit, view … longing is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for faith accompanied by rapture, for virtue, for learning, for generosity, for wisdom, for lust, for delusion, for conceit, for view, for longing.
