[148] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not a root but is accompanied by roots (nahetu sahetuka) is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a root but is accompanied by roots by contiguity condition (samanantara-paccaya). … is a condition by connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya): here there is no combination (ghaṭanā); there are seven questions (pañhā). … is a condition by mutuality condition (aññamañña-paccaya): six questions. … is a condition by dependence condition (nissaya-paccaya): the course of existence (pavatti) and rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi); seven questions; here there is no combination.
