[166] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) with a condition (sappaccaya), a phenomenon with a condition arises through the root condition (hetu-paccaya):
Dependent on one aggregate (khandha) with a condition, three aggregates and mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arise; [dependent on] two aggregates …
At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi-kkhaṇa), dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) arises; dependent on the base, the aggregates arise; [dependent on] one primary element (mahābhūta) …; dependent on the primary elements, mind-originated materiality and kamma-born materiality (kaṭattā-rūpa) — derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa) — arise.
