[485] Dependent on (paṭicca) a phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a fetter (saññojana) and associated with fetters, a phenomenon that is both a fetter and associated with fetters arises, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): dependent on the fetter of doubt (vicikicchā), the fetter of ignorance (avijjā) [arises].
Dependent on a phenomenon that is associated with fetters but not a fetter, a phenomenon that is both a fetter and associated with fetters arises, not by root condition: dependent on the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by doubt, delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt [arises].
