[506] Conditioned by a phenomenon (dhamma) that is a tie (gantha), a phenomenon that is a tie arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): three [cases], similar to those of the Dependence [section] (paṭicca).
Conditioned by a phenomenon that is not a tie, a phenomenon that is not a tie arises by root condition: conditioned by one aggregate (khandha) that is not a tie, there arise three aggregates and mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa); two aggregates …; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), conditioned by the aggregates, there arises the base (vatthu); conditioned by the base, there arise the aggregates; one primary element (mahābhūta) …; conditioned by the base, there arise the aggregates that are not ties.
