[345] In dependence on a clung-to phenomenon (upādinna dhamma), a clung-to phenomenon arises, not by object condition (na-ārammaṇa-paccayā):
At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), in dependence on the clung-to aggregates, kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa) [arises]; in dependence on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) [arises]; one great primary element (mahābhūta) …; in dependence on the great primary elements, kamma-born derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa) [arises]. For the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), one great primary element …; in dependence on the great primary elements, kamma-born derivative materiality [arises].
In dependence on a clung-to phenomenon, a not-clung-to (anupādinna) phenomenon arises, not by object condition:
In dependence on the clung-to aggregates, mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arises].
