Upādinnduka

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (4) · Vol. 43 · Section 381

[381] A clung-to (upādinna) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition, by faculty condition (indriya-paccaya), for a clung-to phenomenon: Clung-to faculties (indriya) are a condition, by faculty condition, for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates (khandha). At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), clung-to faculties are a condition, by faculty condition, for the associated aggregates and for kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa). The eye faculty (cakkhundriya) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the body faculty (kāyindriya) … the material life faculty (rūpajīvitindriya) is a condition, by faculty condition, for kamma-born materiality. A clung-to phenomenon is a condition for a not-clung-to (anupādinna) phenomenon … In the [section] rooted in the clung-to there are three [cases]; the material life faculty belongs only to the first; in the others it does not occur. A not-clung-to phenomenon is a condition, by faculty condition, for a not-clung-to phenomenon: Not-clung-to faculties are a condition, by faculty condition, for the associated aggregates and for mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhānarūpa).
