Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (4) · Vol. 43 · Section 695

[695] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) accompanied by pleasure (sukhasahagata), there arises a phenomenon accompanied by pleasure, not by root condition (na-hetupaccaya): dependent on one rootless (ahetuka) aggregate (khandha) accompanied by pleasure, two aggregates [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … . The root [question is to be supplied]: Dependent on the rootless aggregates accompanied by pleasure, pleasure (sukha) and mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon accompanied by pleasure, there arise a phenomenon accompanied by pleasure and a phenomenon not accompanied by pleasure, not by root condition: dependent on one rootless aggregate accompanied by pleasure, two aggregates, and pleasure and mind-originated form [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … . Dependent on a phenomenon not accompanied by pleasure, there arises a phenomenon not accompanied by pleasure, not by root condition: dependent on one rootless aggregate not accompanied by pleasure, three aggregates and mind-originated form [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … dependent on rootless pleasure, mind-originated form [arises]; at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), dependent on one aggregate not accompanied by pleasure, three aggregates and kamma-born form (kaṭattā-rūpa) [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) [arises]; dependent on the base, the aggregates [arise]; [dependent on] one primary element (mahābhūta), up to the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta); dependent on the aggregates accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), the delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness [arises]. As in the [dyad of states] accompanied by rapture (sappītika), it is similar to the not-root condition [there], without any difference; everywhere there are just nine questions.
