[261] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is a root (hetu) and is undefiled and not subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-asaṅkilesika), there arises a phenomenon that is a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement — not by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya). Dependent on a phenomenon that is a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement, there arises a phenomenon that is not a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement — not by predominance condition. Dependent on a phenomenon that is not a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement, there arises a phenomenon that is not a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement — not by predominance condition. Dependent on a phenomenon that is not a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement, there arises a phenomenon that is a root and is undefiled and not subject to defilement — not by predominance condition.
