[1042] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is accompanied by roots but not a root (sahetukañceva-na-ca-hetu) and is a not-root (na-hetu), a phenomenon that is not both-rootless-and-a-not-root (na-ahetukañceva-na-na-ca-hetu) and is not a not-root (na-nahetu) arises by root condition (hetupaccayā).
