[1220] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is not rootless (na-ahetuka) and is not a root (na-hetu), a not-root (na-hetu) phenomenon that is rootless (ahetuka) arises by root condition (hetupaccayā). One. Dependent on a phenomenon that is not rootless and is not a not-root (na-nahetu), a not-root phenomenon that is rootless arises by root condition. One. Dependent on a phenomenon that is not rootless and is not a root, and a phenomenon that is not rootless and is not a not-root, a not-root phenomenon that is rootless arises by root condition. One.
