[186] And what, bhikkhus, is a harmonious formal act (kamma) that is in accordance with the Dhamma? Bhikkhus, if in a formal act with a motion as the second (ñattidutiya-kamma) one first sets forth the motion (ñatti) and afterwards carries out the act with one proclamation of the act (kammavācā); and as many bhikkhus as are entitled to take part in the act have come; the consent (chanda) of those entitled to give consent has been conveyed; and those present do not object — that is a harmonious formal act in accordance with the Dhamma. Bhikkhus, if in a formal act with a motion as the fourth (ñatticatuttha-kamma) one first sets forth the motion and afterwards carries out the act with three proclamations of the act; and as many bhikkhus as are entitled to take part in the act have come; the consent of those entitled to give consent has been conveyed; and those present do not object — that is a harmonious formal act in accordance with the Dhamma. This, bhikkhus, is called a harmonious formal act in accordance with the Dhamma.
