Vinayapiṭaka · Mahāvagga (2) · Vol. 5 · Section 99

[99] And how, bhikkhus, is the kathina (kaṭhina) withdrawn? Bhikkhus, there are these eight grounds (mātikā) for the withdrawal of the kathina: determined by departing (pakkamanantikā), determined by the completion [of the robe] (niṭṭhānantikā), determined by resolution (sanniṭṭhānantikā), determined by the loss [of the cloth] (nāsanantikā), determined by hearing [the news] (savanantikā), determined by the cutting off of expectation (āsāvacchedikā), determined by passing beyond the boundary (sīmātikkantikā), and withdrawal in common [with the Saṅgha] (sahubbhārā).
