[346] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu deserving mānatta should not walk in front of a bhikkhu in regular standing (pakatatta), nor sit in front of him. Whatever is the last seat, the last sleeping place, the last dwelling belonging to the Saṅgha — that should be given to him, and he should accept it. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu deserving mānatta should not approach families with a bhikkhu in regular standing as an ascetic going before him or as an ascetic following behind him; he should not undertake the forest-dweller's practice (āraññikaṅga); he should not undertake the alms-food-eater's practice (piṇḍapātikaṅga); and on that account he should not have alms-food brought out to him, thinking, "May they not know me."
