[357] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu undertaking the penance (mānatta) should not walk in front of a regular bhikkhu (pakatatta), nor sit in front of him. Whatever is the last seat, the last bed, the last dwelling of the Saṅgha — that should be given to him, and he should accept it. Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu undertaking the penance should not approach families with a regular bhikkhu as the ascetic preceding him or as the ascetic following him; he should not undertake the forest-dweller's practice (āraññikaṅga); he should not undertake the alms-collector's practice (piṇḍapātikaṅga); and he should not, on that account, have almsfood brought out to him, thinking, "May they not know me."
