[351] Bhikkhus, a **bhikkhu** deserving penance (mānattāraha) should not dwell under the same roof in a monastic residence (āvāsa) together with a bhikkhu of regular standing (pakatatta); he should not dwell under the same roof in a non-residence (anāvāsa); he should not dwell under the same roof whether in a residence or a non-residence. On seeing a bhikkhu of regular standing, he should rise from his seat; he should invite the bhikkhu of regular standing to a seat; he should not sit on the same seat together with a bhikkhu of regular standing; when [the bhikkhu of regular standing] is seated on a low seat, he should not sit on a high seat; when [the bhikkhu of regular standing] is seated on the ground, he should not sit on a seat; he should not walk on the same walking-meditation path (caṅkama); when [the bhikkhu of regular standing] is walking on a low walking path, he should not walk on a high walking path; when [the bhikkhu of regular standing] is walking on the ground, he should not walk on a walking path.
