[438] "And thus, bhikkhus, should he be rehabilitated (abbhāna). Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu Udāyī should approach the Saṅgha, arrange his upper robe (uttarāsaṅga) over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhus, sit squatting on his heels, raise his joined palms, and he should speak thus:
'Venerable sirs, I fell into one offence (āpatti), intentional emission of semen (sañcetanikā sukkavisaṭṭhi), concealed for a fortnight. For that one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for a fortnight, I requested from the Saṅgha a fortnight's probation (pakkhaparivāsa). For that one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for a fortnight, the Saṅgha granted me a fortnight's probation. While undergoing probation, I fell in the interval into one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha the sending back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassanā). For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha sent me back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) together with the former offence. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me a combined probation together with the former offence.
Having completed the probation and being worthy of penance (mānatta), I fell in the interval into one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha the sending back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha sent me back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha a combined probation together with the former offence. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me a combined probation together with the former offence.
Having completed the probation, I requested from the Saṅgha six nights' penance for the three offences. The Saṅgha granted me six nights' penance for the three offences. While undergoing the penance, I fell in the interval into one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha the sending back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha sent me back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha a combined probation together with the former offence. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me a combined probation together with the former offence. Having completed the probation, for that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha six nights' penance. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me six nights' penance.
Having completed the penance and being worthy of rehabilitation, I fell in the interval into one offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha the sending back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha sent me back to the beginning. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha a combined probation together with the former offence. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me a combined probation together with the former offence. Having completed the probation, for that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, I requested from the Saṅgha six nights' penance. For that one interval offence, intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days, the Saṅgha granted me six nights' penance. Venerable sirs, having completed the penance, I request rehabilitation from the Saṅgha.'
The request should be made a second time; the request should be made a third time."
