[440] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu had committed several offences (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa): one offence concealed for one day, one offence concealed for two days, one offence concealed for three days, one offence concealed for four days, one offence concealed for five days, one offence concealed for six days, one offence concealed for seven days, one offence concealed for eight days, one offence concealed for nine days, one offence concealed for ten days. He informed the bhikkhus: "Friends, I have committed several saṅghādisesa offences: one offence concealed for one day … one offence concealed for ten days. How, then, should I proceed?" Those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Well then, bhikkhus, let the Saṅgha grant to that bhikkhu, for those offences, combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) according to the value of that offence which was concealed for ten days."
