Vinayapiṭaka · Cūḷavagga (1) · Vol. 6 · Section 475

[475] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu, while undergoing probation (parivāsa), becomes deranged in mind (khittacitta). Bhikkhus, for one whose mind is deranged, probation does not take effect. If he afterwards becomes no longer deranged in mind, that very former granting of probation still stands for him. Whatever probation has been granted is well granted; whatever has been observed is well observed. The remainder is to be observed.
