[478] Here again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who is undergoing probation (parivāsa) is suspended (ukkhipiyati) for not making amends for an offence (āpatti). Bhikkhus, probation does not accrue for one who has been suspended. If he is later reinstated (osāriyati), that very same former granting of probation stands for him. The probation that was given is well given; what has been dwelt through is well dwelt through; the remainder must still be dwelt through.
