[479] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu who is undergoing probation (parivāsa) is suspended for not relinquishing an evil view. Bhikkhus, for one who has been suspended, probation does not take effect. If he is later restored, that same former granting of probation stands for him. The probation that has been given is well given; that which has been dwelt is well dwelt; the remainder should be dwelt.
