[480] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu deserving to be sent back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassanā) disrobes. Bhikkhus, for one who has disrobed, the sending back to the beginning does not take effect. If he receives the higher ordination (upasampadā) again, that very former grant of probation (parivāsa) stands for him. The probation that was given is well given; what has been dwelt through is well dwelt through. That bhikkhu should be sent back to the beginning.
