[563] Two bhikkhus have committed an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa). Regarding those saṅghādisesa offenses, they hold the view that they are saṅghādisesa offenses. They set out, thinking, "We will disclose them." On the way, a state of denigration (makkhadhamma) arises in one of them: "I will not disclose it." He conceals it through the first watch, he conceals it through the second watch, he conceals it through the third watch; when dawn has risen, the offense stands concealed. The one who concealed it should be made to confess an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); and, having given him probation (parivāsa) in accordance with the period concealed, penance (mānatta) should be given to both.
