[572] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu commits multiple offenses entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa āpattiyo) — some limited, some unlimited; some of one name, some of different names; some of the same kind, some of different kinds; some distinct, some mixed. He asks the Saṅgha for a combined probation (samodhānaparivāsa) for those offenses. The Saṅgha gives him a combined probation for those offenses. While he is undergoing probation, he commits in the interim multiple offenses entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha — some limited, some unlimited — unconcealed. He asks the Saṅgha for a sending back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassana) on account of the interim offenses. The Saṅgha sends him back to the beginning on account of the interim offenses by a formal act that is in accordance with the Dhamma, unshakeable, fit to stand; it gives the combined probation in accordance with the Dhamma; it gives the penance (mānatta) not in accordance with the Dhamma; it rehabilitates (abbheti) him not in accordance with the Dhamma. That bhikkhu, bhikkhus, is not purified of those offenses.
