[603] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu has committed an offence (āpatti). The Saṅgha, or several bhikkhus, or a single individual reproves him: "Does the venerable one remember having committed an offence of such a kind?" He, remembering it, speaks thus: "I do remember, friends—as though in a dream." The Saṅgha gives him the verdict of past insanity (amūḷhavinaya). The giving of the verdict of past insanity is not in accordance with the Dhamma.
