[159] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus (bhikkhu) accumulated a great quantity of metal goods and bronze goods. People wandering on a tour of the dwellings, seeing this, criticized, complained, and spread it about, saying: "How can the ascetics, sons of the Sakyans, accumulate a great quantity of metal goods and bronze goods, just like bronze-ware merchants?" … They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, an accumulation of metal goods and bronze goods is not to be made. Whoever should make one commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)."
