[160] Now at that time, bhikkhus were scrupulous about an ointment box (añjanī), an ointment stick (añjanisalākā), and an ear-wax remover (kaṇṇamalaharaṇī) that had a mere fastening (bandhanamatta). They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow an ointment box, an ointment stick, and an ear-wax remover with a mere fastening."
