[168] Now at that time bhikkhus attached both a button (gaṇṭhikā) and a loop (pāsaka) to the robe. The robe wore out. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a button-backing piece (gaṇṭhikaphalaka) and a loop-backing piece (pāsakaphalaka)." They attached both the button-backing piece and the loop-backing piece at the very edge. The corner came open. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow the button-backing piece to be attached at the edge, and the loop-backing piece to be attached after setting it in seven or eight fingerbreadths."
