[216] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus used high bed-supports (mañcapaṭipādaka). They wobbled together with the bed-supports. People wandering on a tour of the dwellings, seeing this, complained, criticized, and spread it about, … "just like householders who enjoy sensual pleasures" … They informed the Blessed One of this matter. … "Bhikkhus, high bed-supports are not to be used. Whoever should use one commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). Bhikkhus, I allow a bed-support of eight fingerbreadths (aṭṭhaṅgula) at most."
