[30] Then Pūraṇa Kassapa approached the merchant (seṭṭhī) of Rājagaha; having approached, he said this to the merchant of Rājagaha: "Householder, I indeed am an arahant (arahā) and one possessed of psychic power (iddhimā); give the bowl to me." "Venerable sir, if the venerable one is indeed an arahant and one possessed of psychic power, let him take down the bowl that has been given."
Then Makkhali Gosāla, Ajita Kesakambala, Pakudha Kaccāyana, Sañjaya Veḷaṭṭhaputta, and Nigaṇṭha Nāṭaputta approached the merchant of Rājagaha; having approached, each said this to the merchant of Rājagaha: "Householder, I indeed am an arahant and one possessed of psychic power; give the bowl to me." "Venerable sir, if the venerable one is indeed an arahant and one possessed of psychic power, let him take down the bowl that has been given."
