[327] "Bhikkhus, he should be appointed in this way. First, the bhikkhu should be asked. Having asked him, the Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should appoint the bhikkhu named so-and-so as assigner of meals (bhattuddesaka). This is the motion (ñatti).
'Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. The Saṅgha appoints the bhikkhu named so-and-so as assigner of meals. If the appointment of the bhikkhu named so-and-so as assigner of meals is agreeable to any venerable one, let him be silent; he to whom it is not agreeable should speak.
'The bhikkhu named so-and-so has been appointed by the Saṅgha as assigner of meals. It is agreeable to the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it.'"
