[435] Now at that time, bhikkhus relieved themselves at the privy (vaccakuṭī) in order of seniority. Newly ordained bhikkhus, having arrived first, needing to relieve themselves, had to wait. Holding back their excrement, they fainted and fell down. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Is it true, as they say, bhikkhus, that bhikkhus relieve themselves at the privy in order of seniority, that newly ordained bhikkhus, having arrived first, needing to relieve themselves, have to wait, and that, holding back their excrement, they faint and fall down?" "It is true, Blessed One." … "Bhikkhus, one should not relieve oneself at the privy in order of seniority. Whoever should do so commits an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). Bhikkhus, I allow relieving oneself in the order of arrival."
