[522] Then Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, she stood to one side. Standing to one side, Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, those training rules (sikkhāpadāni) of the bhikkhunīs which are in common with the bhikkhus — how, venerable sir, should we conduct ourselves with regard to those training rules?"
"Gotamī, those training rules of the bhikkhunīs which are in common with the bhikkhus — train in those training rules just as the bhikkhus train."
"But, venerable sir, those training rules of the bhikkhunīs which are not in common with the bhikkhus — how, venerable sir, should we conduct ourselves with regard to those training rules?"
"Gotamī, those training rules of the bhikkhunīs which are not in common with the bhikkhus — train in those training rules as they have been laid down."
