[548] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu was about to set out on a journey. The bhikkhunīs approached him and said: "Venerable sir, please accept the exhortation (ovāda)." He said: "Sisters, I am about to set out on a journey; how can I accept the exhortation?" "Please accept the exhortation, venerable sir, for it has been laid down thus by the Blessed One: 'Except for one who is foolish and except for one who is ill, the exhortation is to be accepted by the rest.'" They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow the exhortation to be accepted by the rest, except for one who is foolish, except for one who is ill, and except for one who is setting out on a journey."
