[549] Now at that time a certain **bhikkhu** was dwelling in the forest. The bhikkhunīs approached him and said this: "Venerable sir, undertake the exhortation."
"Sisters, I dwell in the forest; how can I undertake the exhortation?"
"Undertake the exhortation, venerable sir, for thus it has been laid down by the Blessed One: setting aside one who is foolish, setting aside one who is sick, setting aside one who is about to set out on a journey, the exhortation is to be undertaken by the rest."
They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow a forest-dwelling bhikkhu to undertake the exhortation and to make an appointment, saying: 'I will deliver it there.'"
