[58] Now at that time bhikkhus were sewing robes with a chicken's feather (kukkuṭapatta) and with strips of bamboo (veḷupesikā). The robe was badly sewn. They informed the Blessed One of this matter. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a needle (sūci)."
The needles became rusted. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a needle-tube (sūcināḷika)."
