[591] Now at that time bhikkhus suspended the Uposatha (uposatha) of bhikkhunīs, suspended the Pavāraṇā (pavāraṇā), issued formal directives (savacanīya), initiated censure (anuvāda), had them give leave (okāsa), accused (codenti) them, and reminded (sārenti) them. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow a bhikkhu to suspend the Uposatha of a bhikkhunī — even when suspended, it is well suspended; there is no offence for the one who suspends it; to suspend the Pavāraṇā — even when suspended, it is well suspended; there is no offence for the one who suspends it; to issue a formal directive — even when issued, it is well issued; there is no offence for the one who issues it; to initiate censure — even when initiated, it is well initiated; there is no offence for the one who initiates it; to have her give leave — even when it has been had given, it is well given; there is no offence for the one who has it given; to accuse — even when she has been accused, she is well accused; there is no offence for the one who accuses; to remind — even when she has been reminded, she is well reminded; there is no offence for the one who reminds."
