ทูลถามถึงสิกขาบท

Vinayapiṭaka · Cūḷavagga (2) · Vol. 7 · Section 592

[592] Now at that time the group-of-six (chabbaggiyā) bhikkhunīs traveled by vehicle — both by one yoked with female animals (itthīyutta) with a man in between as driver, and by one yoked with male animals (purisayutta) with a woman in between as driver. People looked down upon this, criticized it, and spread it about, saying: "… just as at the Gaṅgā and the Mahī." They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, a bhikkhunī should not travel by vehicle. Whoever should so travel is to be dealt with according to the rule (yathādhamma)."
