[647] Then the Venerable Sabbakāmī, having risen at the time of dawn towards the end of the night, said this to the Venerable Revata: "In which abiding, friend (bhummi), do you now mostly dwell?"
"I now mostly dwell, venerable sir, in the abiding of loving-kindness (mettāvihāra)."
"It seems, friend, that you now mostly dwell in a humble abiding (kullakavihāra); for this, friend, is a humble abiding, namely loving-kindness."
"Even formerly, venerable sir, when I was a householder, loving-kindness was habitually practiced by me; therefore even now I mostly dwell in the abiding of loving-kindness. Moreover, arahantship was attained by me long ago. But in which abiding, venerable sir, does the Elder now mostly dwell?"
"I now mostly dwell, friend, in the abiding of emptiness (suññatāvihāra)."
"It seems, venerable sir, that the Elder now mostly dwells in the abiding of great men (mahāpurisavihāra); for this, venerable sir, is the abiding of great men, namely emptiness (suññatā)."
"Even formerly, friend, when I was a householder, emptiness was habitually practiced by me; therefore even now I mostly dwell in the abiding of emptiness. Moreover, arahantship was attained by me long ago."
