[652] Then the Venerable Revata said this to the Venerable Sabbakāmī: "Bhante, is the horn-salt practice (siṅgiloṇakappa) allowable?"
"What, friend, is the horn-salt practice?"
"Bhante, is it allowable to carry salt about in a horn, thinking, 'Where there is unsalted food, there I shall consume it'?"
"It is not allowable, friend."
"Where was it prohibited?"
"At Sāvatthī, in the Suttavibhaṅga."
"What offense does one commit?"
"A pācittiya for eating food that has been stored up (sannidhikāraka)."
"Bhante, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This first matter has been decided by the Saṅgha. Thus this matter is contrary to Dhamma, contrary to Vinaya, and deviates from the Teacher's instruction. This first voting ticket (salākā) I set down."
