Vinayapiṭaka · Cūḷavagga (2) · Vol. 7 · Section 657

[657] "Venerable sir, is the customary practice (āciṇṇakappa) allowable?" "What, friend, is the customary practice?" "Venerable sir, is it allowable to practice something, thinking, 'This was habitually practiced by my preceptor (upajjhāya); this was habitually practiced by my teacher (ācariya)'?" "The customary practice, friend, is in some cases allowable, in some cases not allowable." "Venerable sir, let the Saṅgha hear me. This sixth matter has been decided by the Saṅgha. Thus this matter is contrary to the Dhamma, contrary to the Vinaya, and departed from the Teacher's instruction. This sixth voting ticket (salākā) I set down."
