[659] (Revata:) "Venerable sir, is it allowable to drink jaḷogi?"
(Sabbakāmī:) "Friend, what is this jaḷogi?"
(Revata:) "Venerable sir, is it allowable to drink that surā which is unfermented, which has not attained the state of an intoxicant?"
(Sabbakāmī:) "Friend, it is not allowable."
(Revata:) "Where was it prohibited?"
(Sabbakāmī:) "At Kosambī, in the Suttavibhaṅga."
(Revata:) "What offense does one commit?"
(Sabbakāmī:) "A pācittiya offense for drinking surā and meraya."
(Revata:) "Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This eighth matter has been decided by the Saṅgha. Thus this matter is contrary to the Dhamma, contrary to the Vinaya, deviating from the Teacher's instruction. This eighth voting ticket (salākā) I put down."
