[88] Now at that time the bathhouse (jantāghara) was unenclosed. … "Bhikkhus, I allow you to enclose it with three kinds of walls: a brick wall, a stone wall, and a wooden wall." There was no porch (koṭṭhaka). … "Bhikkhus, I allow a porch." The porch had a low base; it was flooded with water. … "Bhikkhus, I allow you to make it with a high base." The facing of the base collapsed. … "Bhikkhus, I allow you to build up three kinds of facing: brick facing, stone facing, and wooden facing." Those climbing up were troubled. … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of stairs: brick stairs, stone stairs, and wooden stairs." Those climbing up fell off. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a railing to hold on to (ālambanabāha)."
