[95] Now at that time bhikkhus drew water even with creepers and even with waist-bands … "Bhikkhus, I allow a well-rope (udapāna-rajju)."
Their hands became sore … "Bhikkhus, I allow a well-sweep (tulā), a hand-turned pulley (karakaṭaka), and a wheel-and-axle pulley (cakkavaṭṭaka)."
Many vessels were broken … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of water-pots (vāraka): a metal water-pot, a wooden water-pot, and a bucket of hide (cammakhaṇḍa)."
