[94] Now at that time there was no water in the bathhouse (jantāghara). They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, I allow a well (udapāna)." The bank of the well collapsed. … "Bhikkhus, I allow it to be built up with three kinds of facing (caya): a brick facing, a stone facing, and a wooden facing." The well had a low base; it was flooded by water. They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, I allow it to be made with a raised base." The facing collapsed. … Those climbing up were troubled. … Those climbing up fell down. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a railing for holding on (ālambanabāha)."
