[84] Now at that time the bathhouse (jantāghara) had a low foundation. It was flooded with water. … "Bhikkhus, I allow it to be made with a high foundation."
The facing of the raised foundation collapsed. … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of facing to be built up: a facing of bricks, a facing of stone, and a facing of wood."
Those climbing up were troubled. … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of stairs: brick stairs, stone stairs, and wooden stairs."
Those climbing up fell off. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a railing to hold on to (ālambanabāha)."
The bathhouse had no door. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a door, a doorframe, a lower pivot-socket, an upper pivot-socket, a bolt-post, a 'monkey's-head' bolt-catch, a pin, a latch, a keyhole, a hole for pulling through, and a cord for pulling."
The base of the bathhouse wall decayed. They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, I allow a plinth (maṇḍalika) to be made."
