[66] Now at that time bhikkhus, sewing robes in the open air, were wearied both by the cold and by the heat. They reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, I allow a hall for the kaṭhina frame (kaṭhinasālā) and a pavilion for the kaṭhina frame (kaṭhinamaṇḍapa)."
The kaṭhina-frame hall had a low foundation; it was flooded with water. They reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, I allow it to be made with a high foundation."
The piled-up embankment (caya) collapsed.
"Bhikkhus, I allow the piling up of three kinds of facing: a facing of brick, a facing of stone, and a facing of wood."
Climbing up, they were in difficulty. …
"Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of stairs: brick stairs, stone stairs, and wooden stairs."
