[235] Now at that time bhikkhus, taking their meal (bhattavissagga) in the open air, were wearied both by cold and by heat. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow an attendance hall (upaṭṭhānasālā)."
The attendance hall had a low foundation; it was flooded by water. … "Bhikkhus, I allow it to be made with a high foundation."
The facing-mound (caya) collapsed. … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of facings to be piled up: a brick facing, a stone facing, and a wooden facing."
Climbing up, they were in difficulty. … "Bhikkhus, I allow three kinds of stairways: a brick stairway, a stone stairway, and a wooden stairway."
Climbing up, they fell off. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a railing to hold on to (ālambanabāhā)."
In the attendance hall grass-dust fell down. … "Bhikkhus, I allow it, having first been covered over (ogumbetvā), to be made plastered within and without — with white coloring, black coloring, treatment with red ochre (geruka), garland-work, creeper-work, makara-tooth pattern, the fivefold strip design (pañcapaṭika) — and a bamboo robe-rail and a robe-line."
