[83] Now at that time bhikkhus, walking in meditation in the open air, were wearied both by cold and by heat. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow a walking-meditation hall (caṅkamanasālā)." In the walking-meditation hall grass-powder fell down … "Bhikkhus, I allow, having covered it over (ogumbetvā), to make it smeared inside and out, [and to apply] white colouring, black colouring, treatment with red ochre (geruka), garland-work, creeper-work, makara-tooth design, five-band design (pañcapaṭṭhika), a bamboo rod for robes, and a cord for robes."
