[96] Now on that occasion bhikkhus, drawing water in the open air, were wearied both by the cold and by the heat. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow a well-hall (udapānasālā)."
The well-hall was littered with falling grass-powder … "Bhikkhus, I allow you, having covered it over low down (ogumbetvā), to have it plastered within and without, with whitewash, black colouring, red-ochre treatment (gerukaparikamma), garland-work, creeper-work, makara-tooth ornament, the five-strip design (pañcapaṭṭhika), a bamboo pole for robes, and a cord for robes."
